Education History
Going into college I was unsure of what I wanted to do and because of this I ended up taking a lot of classes I didn't need, changed my major one too many times, and found my self just uninterested and lacked commitment to going to class and reaching my goals. I dropped many classes and failed a few so eventually I gave up on school for a while and decided to just focus on work. After years of just working a waitressing job, I decided to get serious with school again because I realized I'm not a kid anymore and working a minimum wage paying job just isn't going to cut it if I plan to have the future I wanted. I spent the majority of my time back at school retaking classes I have failed in the past, all while taking classes to complete my requirements for the nursing program at my local city college. Going into counseling was especially hard for me because when counselors look at my GPA along with my lack of commitment to school, I was instantly put down about the career choice I wanted and asked if I would consider another. So many times I even doubted myself because if my counselors didn't believe in me why should I? I was lucky enough to be surrounded by people who encouraged me and motivated me to keep going. Fast forward to today, I graduated city college with my AS in Biology, completed all my required classes for the nursing program, passed my TEAS test and got into the nursing program! I will be starting the program in the fall of 2019 and I am beyond excited because I didn't think I could do it. I know this is only the beginning but I'm ready to give it my all. I'm ready for the future.
