Education History
I completed my first bachelor's degree at California State University, Sacramento in July 2019. I am now a nursing student at Samuel Merritt University and will be graduating in the Summer of 2021.
Awards
I have been on the Dean’s honor roll 6 times out of my 9 semesters at CSUS. Upon graduating from SMU, I received honors.

Even though my first bachelor’s was in Communication Studies, my interest and passion have always been in nursing ever since I was in high school. Even though the journey was long and difficult, I am finally a nursing student and I could not be more content with the choices I have made to get me to where I am.

Through my volunteering experience at Kaiser Permanente, I was able to see for the very first time the inside of a NICU. Out of all the departments that I visited, this was the one that I felt I had the strongest emotional connection with. Seeing all the monitors and incubators with these tiny human beings inside, all hooked up and so vulnerable, truly left me at a loss for words. It had a profound impact on me. It was in that moment that I desired to be the person to nurture and to help them win their fight to survive. I see myself being a clinical expert in my field who is still passionate about learning and trying to make a difference in this world. I see myself being an advocate for newborns and their families, while also trying to raise awareness on topics that I feel passionate about such as health care provider implicit bias, demographic linked health disparities, and the underrepresentation of minorities in healthcare professions such as nurses, nurse practitioners, and doctors.
