Community Service
History
• I volunteered to help educate the class as well as being a part of advancing the class through our course.
• Completed an online training course/session with videos about how to help the kids as a Leadership Intern for my future event at Camp Invention, where we help elementary and Middle school children through the wonders of the STEM fields and activities
• At Camp Invention, I assisted and directed a group of young students (grades 5-6) taking them between campus modules, camp games, and base camp, learning all there is about their future in STEM.
• In addition to Camp Invention, I was also able to direct and help and of my students in our group with Pop-Up Venture where students created their own business and helped students work on and create their own original skate park.
• The overall week-long experience with Camp Invention has been a truly amazing opportunity for me to engage with the children and view STEM from their perspective as well as help the kids decide and narrow down the exact specifications they enjoy about STEM and what they want to do when they grow up through that 40-hour volunteering camp.
• At my school, we have a STEM Academy which I am a part of. I was so fortunate to be able to volunteer as a STEM Tour Guide for a night at our Northwest High School campus, leading a group of young students who were entering their freshman year of high school that very next year, who all have an interest in these areas and careers. I guided these upcoming STEM freshmen in our new STEM wing, built just this past year (2023), providing information on future classes they can take, as well as answering any questions that they had for us.
