Additional Info
I also volunteered for the American Red Cross during the Thomas Fire. I was one of the unlucky ones and lost my house that was in the hills in Ventura. I’ve always been a positive thinker and the only thing that came to mind was when I found out my house had been lost to the Fire was to find out how I could help others that were in my same position. A lot of people are not as positive as I am so I decided to use my energy and I worked with the American Red Cross, volunteered at the Ventura County Fair grounds passing out water and supplies, and volunteered with the “Upper Ojai Relief” which helped home owners go thru the ash and try to find valuables. One story that really stuck out was while I was helping an older gentleman go thru his mobile home ash we found a safe. I was able to grind it open and we found his deceased wife’s wedding ring, his “silver star” from his service in the military and multiple other keep sakes. It made his day and truthfully made mine! It was amazing to see his face when I surprised him with the open safe, and watched him go thru his keep sakes. A moment I will cherish forever!
